Jacques Loussier: Trumpet Concerto

Filmed at the Munich Klaviersommer in 1993, this concert presents Jacques Loussier’s Concerto for Trumpet and Chamber Orchestra with Bernard Soustrot as soloist, alongside the Münchner Symphoniker under Jean-Pierre Wallez. Known for his work between jazz and classical traditions, Loussier writes here in a three-movement form, placing the trumpet at the centre of the musical argument. Soustrot takes on the solo role in a piece that reflects the composer’s distinctive musical language, heard here in a live performance from Munich’s Philharmonie im Gasteig.
