Night Music: Jan Lisiecki in Würzburg

The nighttime has long been an inspiration to countless composers – its characteristics serve as a perfect bed for both wistful and occasionally tumultuous composition. It can be dreamy or comforting, but sometimes it’s frightening, full of dark secrets. Performing from the impressive Imperial Hall at the Würzburg Residence, Jan Lisiecki presents a piano recital that focuses on works that have either been written in dedication to or over the duration of the night. The young Canadian pianist brings the spirits of the night, both good and evil to life, navigating through the works of Mozart, Schumann, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, and Chopin.
