Few artists would undertake such as Kit Armstrong's Keyboard Music Chronicles, surveying several centuries of music – not only a pianistic tour-de-force, but a compelling demonstration of Armstrong's questing intellect and musicological curiosity. For this central concert in the series, he charts the different musical developments that accompanied the Enlightenment, from J.S. Bach's revolutionary Well Tempered Clavier – composed to demonstrate the advantages of keyboard instruments tuned to equal temperament – through Sturm und Drang Haydn and perfectly balanced Mozart to the proto-Romantic fantasies of C.P.E Bach and Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata.
