Bomsori is the soloist in this programme, filmed at the Seoul Arts Center, that takes us deep into the heart of German music of the 19th century – featuring, in the Bamberg Symphony, one of the great German orchestras under its chief conductor, Jakub Hrůša. The programme opens with a rarity – the overture to the 21-year-old Wagner's first opera, Die Feen – before Bomsori takes to the stage with Max Bruch's ever-popular Violin Concerto No. 1. In the concert's second half, Hrůša puts his orchestra through its paces with Beethoven's irresistibly invigorating Symphony No. 7 – memorably described by Wagner himself as representing the "apotheosis of the dance".
