Yannick Nézet-Séguin
The acclaimed Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin begins his three-year residency at the Dortmund Concert Hall on September 19 with the opening of the 2013/14 concert season. As chief conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, he will present Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, "Pathétique." The Dortmund Concert Hall is counting on Nézet-Séguin not only as its musical director but also as a facilitator of classical music for a younger audience. The season opening promises to be a significant cultural event. Deutsche Grammophon will release the concert programs simultaneously: Tchaikovsky's "Pathétique" will be performed in Dortmund, while a "Homage to Leopold Stokowski" will be presented in Philadelphia.
