In 1835, Robert Schumann expressed his admiration for Franz Schubert's sonatas, a side often overlooked, as many knew him primarily as a composer of songs. Schubert was revered as the "king of songs" by his contemporaries and well into the 20th century. Now, the exceptional pianist Maria João Pires turns her attention to Schubert's sonatas in A minor D 845 and B-flat major D 960.
