Album insights

Daniel Barenboim, renowned for his exceptional musical talent and illustrious career as a pianist, conductor of the Staatskapelle Berlin, and founder of the "West-Eastern Divan Orchestra," recently unveiled his groundbreaking creation—the first concert grand piano designed by himself in collaboration with Belgian piano maker Chris Maene. Unlike traditional grand pianos, this innovative instrument features parallel strings instead of diagonal ones, hammers and strings made of yellow brass instead of red brass, and a unique piano mechanism tailored specifically for Barenboim. These distinctive specifications endow the piano with a remarkably pure and crystalline sound. Captivated by his creation, Barenboim wasted no time in recording pieces by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt on this extraordinary instrument, marking a pioneering milestone in the world of pianos.
