Alice Sara Ott has released a deluxe edition of her tenth album on Deutsche Grammophon.
At the heart of the work are not only Frédéric Chopin's 24 Preludes, but also seven contemporary pieces by various composers. These include a work composed specifically for this album by Francesco Tristano and an original composition by the pianist, inspired by Mozart's Lacrimosa. The seven modern compositions, which lend the piano cycle a contemporary framework, date from the 20th and 21st centuries. Behind each of the seven "Interludes" lies a personal, autobiographical aspect of Ott's work, which is explained in detail and individually in the album's booklet. In addition to the pieces from the original release, eleven new recordings expand the narrative of Echoes of Life.
