Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla conducts Beethoven, Šerkšnytė and Walton

With Daniil Trifonov

Production Date: 28/01/2023
91 Min

Recorded live in the Konzerthaus Dortmund in January 2023 comes a characteristically adventurous programme from Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, who conducts the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in music by Raminta Šerkšnytė, William Walton and – with pianist Daniil Trifonov – Beethoven. Šerkšnytė's Fires opens the programme, a work commissioned in 2010 to be performed alongside Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and drawing upon motifs from that work. Then Trifonov is the soloist in Beethoven's sparkling Piano Concerto No. 1 before a performance of the Symphonic Suite of music from William Walton's opera Troilus and Cressida, a work featured on Gražinytė-Tyla's 2021 album "The British Project".
