Gary Burton & Makoto Ozone: Duet

Gary Burton and Makoto Ozone come together at Munich’s Carl-Orff-Saal in 1995 for a duo set as part of the Klaviersommer. Burton, a central figure in modern jazz and a pioneer of the vibraphone in a four-mallet technique, meets Ozone, then emerging internationally as a pianist of wide range and versatility. The set ranges from Monk’s "Blue Monk" and "Monk’s Dream" to John Scofield’s "Why’d You Do It", with stops along the way for Benny Goodman, Piazzolla and Ozone’s own writing. This concert is a treat: a rare opportunity to hear two great artists together, live and up close.
