After planned concert in Gizeh, Cairo had to be cancelled due to tensions in the region, this much-anticipated concert was moved to the Alhambra in Granada, Spain – a Unesco World Heritage Site built during a time of religious tolerance. Daniel Barenboim conducts a programme featuring three works of the core 19th-century repertoire alongside Bottesini's Fantasia on a theme by Rossini, arranged as a showcase for two of the orchestra's star members, Nabil Shehata from Egypt and Kyril Zlotnikov from Israel, demonstrating the harmony between different backgrounds that the orchestra – founded by Barenboim and Edward Said – represents.
