Born in Stockholm, Olsson graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music with degrees in organ, precentorship, and music teaching. He studied composition and counterpoint with Joseph Dente and organ with August Lagergren, later joining the Conservatory’s teaching staff to instruct in harmony and organ. For nearly five decades, from 1907 to 1956, he served as organist at the Gustaf Vasa Church in Stockholm, becoming a central figure in Swedish liturgical and concert music. Olsson was recognized as an expert on organ design and church music, participating in national committees and contributing to major hymnbooks.
