Howard Shore
The renowned composer Howard Shore recently released an album reflecting the three concerts he gave at the Maison de Radio France in Paris in the spring of 2023. The Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France performed at two of these events—once under the baton of Ludwig Wicki and once conducted by Bastien Stil. The third concert focused on Shore's experimental works, which demonstrated his extraordinary versatility across a wide range of musical genres. Brilliant performances were given alternately by the gifted soloists Olivier Doise, Jean-Paul Gasparian, Raphaëlle Moreau, Stéphane Guillaume, and Lydia Kavina. Shore has been considered one of the most innovative film composers of our time for more than four decades and achieved particular fame for his work on the trilogies 'The Lord of the Rings' and later 'The Hobbit'. The artist himself explains: 'Film music offers composers one of the rare opportunities to compose freely, provided one chooses films and themes that resonate with their personality. You develop a trusting relationship with the director so that they encourage you to express yourself personally, to be different, and to work ambitiously. It's about collaboration, perspective, and conviction.'
