Daniel Hope
British violinist Daniel Hope, whom the New York Times describes as "a violinist with an inquisitive intellect and impressive style," has established himself as a virtuoso soloist worldwide over more than two decades. His latest work focuses on the American musical landscape, offering fresh interpretations of works by important US composers such as Gershwin, Copland, and Bernstein. For this project, "America," Hope collaborates with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and special guest musicians, including soul singer Joy Denalane and jazz pianist Marcus Roberts. Since 2019, Hope has served as music director in San Francisco, maintaining a deep connection to American culture, which he makes accessible through a diverse repertoire. "A growing movement is rediscovering African-American composers like Price and Still. Their stories have only recently been revealed," explains Hope. Roberts adds that American music reflects US life: constantly changing, creative, and adaptable. The ongoing artistic partnership between Hope and Roberts manifests itself in this album through a brilliantly executed musical exchange between jazz and classical traditions. ]
