Album insights

Pianist Daniil Trifonov releases his new album, "My American Story – North," taking listeners on a personal musical journey across America. This initial part of a two-part edition, titled "My American Story," marks the start of Trifonov's tribute to his experiences in the United States. The diverse repertoire explores various genres such as Jazz, Swing, Minimal Music, and popular film scores, reflecting his perception of America through different lenses. Highlighting the album are two piano concertos: Gershwin's renowned "Concerto in F" and a world premiere piece by Mason Bates, specially composed for Trifonov. Trifonov collaborates with the Philadelphia Orchestra and its Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin on these works. Additionally, he performs solo pieces by composers like John Adams, Aaron Copland, and John Corigliano, along with his own jazz classic transcriptions. Trifonov's album release features digital formats, two CDs, and a 3-LP vinyl version, complete with extra content like photos, extended reads, and two bonus tracks. Trifonov's next project, "My American Story – South," celebrating the rich and diverse music of Latin America, will follow this release at a later date.
