Welcome to this musical journey where we will explore some of the beautiful pieces composed by Verdi for tenor voices. Starting with an aria from Verdi's first opera "Oberto," we will delve into works from his youth, a selection of arias from his most beloved operas, as well as some of his later compositions. Along our path, we will encounter pieces orchestrated by Luciano Berio, the tenor solo from the magnificent "Messa da Requiem," and finally, the very last aria Verdi composed for tenor. Interpreting Verdi means unveiling variations on the eternal melody of the human soul. Verdi, a man of the people composing for the people, a genius who never lost touch with the profound emotions of the human heart. Verdi stood as a humble figure, believing that art lacking simplicity and naturalness ceases to be art. He once challenged the music critics of his time, questioning why music couldn't express love or pain. For him, simplicity formed the essence of any creative idea. Exploring the vast musical ocean of Verdi alongside the Teatro Regio Torino Orchestra and the remarkable Gianandrea Noseda was a delightful experience. Witnessing the serene blue depths, the mighty storms, the gently lapping waves, and crimson sunsets painted by Verdi's music was truly inspiring. Additionally, sharing this musical odyssey with my dear colleague Mojca Erdmann was a special joy. We hope you will relish this journey and feel compelled, after listening, to immerse yourself in this expansive sea of Verdi's magnificent legacy he left for us all. - Rolando Villazón
