Jóhann Gunnar Jóhannsson

Until his untimely death on February 9, 2018, the Icelandic composer Jóhann Gunnar Jóhannsson was one of the most sought-after and creative film composers of the new Hollywood generation. His groundbreaking compositions for Denis Villeneuve's films "Prisoners," "Sicario," and "Arrival" received international acclaim. He won the Golden Globe for Best Original Score in 2015 for his music to James Marsh's biopic "The Theory of Everything." Jóhannsson's distinctive compositional style masterfully blended minimalist approaches with electronic and orchestral soundscapes. On May 29, Deutsche Grammophon will release a vinyl edition of his previously unreleased score for the film "Together We Are Stronger" (2009) starring Ashton Kutcher and Michelle Pfeiffer. David Hollander, who worked as a director and screenwriter, acknowledges the collaboration and emphasizes Jóhannsson's exceptional talent for realizing an artistic vision through his musical interventions in image and emotion that surpassed his own expectations.

Jóhannsson's extraordinary talent for realizing an artistic vision that exceeded his own expectations is evident in the film.
