When Night Falls
On her latest Deutsche Grammophon recording, 'When Night Falls,' Elīna Garanča explores various aspects of the night. The mezzo-soprano has compiled a selection of orchestral songs as well as works for voice with piano or guitar accompaniment. She performs these with the Orquestra Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, the Berlin Music Ensemble, and renowned DG artists such as Albrecht Mayer and Raphaël Feuillâtre. Regarding the rich palette of sounds, from sunset to the stillness of night, Garanča remarks: 'I hope these sounds allow listeners to momentarily shut out the outside world and fully immerse themselves in the special magic of the night.'
