Roger Eno

Composer and pianist Roger Eno releases his eight-part mini-album 'the skies: rarities'. This collection contains previously unreleased material from the recording sessions for his second solo album for Deutsche Grammophon. The work's melancholic mood reflects concerns about environmental threats. As Eno explains, he usually has a surplus of ideas during the recording process, allowing him to compile enough material for two full albums. 'Rarities' represents this second album. In addition to solo piano compositions, the release also includes 'Patterned Ground' for choir and electronics, and 'Breaking The Surface' for string orchestra, in which the instrumentalists of Scoring Berlin both played from sheet music and improvised. Jon Goddard enriches the track 'Into Silence' with his guitar playing, which, according to Eno, gives the piece a special character. The album also includes the 2023 World Piano Day entry 'Through the Blue (Piano Version)' and the Amazon Original track 'Above and Below'.
