AboutStaatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin

Located in the opera house Unter den Linden in the heart of Berlin, the Staatsoper Berlin is based on more than 280 years of eventful history and a unique artistic tradition. Its fantastic orchestra - the over 450 years old Staatskapelle Berlin -  has been associated with the State Opera since its inception and has been shaped by outstanding conductors suh as Daniel Barenboim. Under the direction of General Music Director Christian Thielemann and renowned guest conductors, it currently guarantees the highest musical standards in opera and concert performances, in collaboration with an excellently cast ensemble, internationally renowned singers, and the State Opera Choir. Following its renovation, which was completed in 2017, the historic building now boasts significantly improved acoustics and state-of-the-art technology, enabling high-quality performances in a stimulating atmosphere. Artistic Director Elisabeth Sobotka and her team at the State Opera realize a diverse, multifaceted artistic program ranging from Baroque to central works of classical, Romantic, and modern opera literature to contemporary music theater. Special attention is also given to the realization of ambitious educational projects, including a participatory opera for children and the continuation and expansion of the Berlin Children's Opera House and the Children's Opera Orchestra.
