"Singen macht glücklich" – Masterclass with Inge Borkh

Oliver Becker's remarkable film takes us deep into the transformative experience a lucky group of singers have taking part in a masterclass with the legendary soprano Inge Borkh. Recorded at the Richard-Strauss-Tagen Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2001, the film shows the great Straussian rehearsing them in Lieder by Strauss and Mahler, while interviews with Borkh and the young performers offer insights into the life of the performer, the interpretative requirements of Lieder and, more generally, what it means to live life as a singer.
