Individually, singer-songwriter Konstantin Wecker and the late Wolfgang Dauner were two of the most original – and unpredictable – names in postwar German cabaret and jazz. Together, they were an unstoppable musical force, free-spirited mavericks from south Germany striking sparks off each other and unleashing a creativity as exuberant as it was entertaining, Munich is Wecker's hometown and there was a real buzz in the air when, for the 1988 Klaviersommer festival, he joined forces with Dauner for an imaginative exploration of Wecker's own remarkable back catalogue – with the help of their regular collaborator, the Luxembourg-born trumpet legend Felice Civitareale.
