Hilary Hahn plays Sarasate and Ginastera

Frankfurt Radio Symphony

Production Date: 18/06/2021
50 Min

Hilary Hahn presents a showpiece alongside a rarity of the violin repertoire in this performance with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada. In his Carmen Fantasy, Pablo de Sarasate used the most popular melodies from Bizet's opera for a display of exorbitantly demanding violin techniques that few master as effortlessly as the American virtuoso. No less difficult, but much less well known, is the violin concerto by the Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera, which features an extended solo cadenza and a haunting scherzo. Both works, together with Dvořák's Violin Concerto, make up the programme of Hahn's 2022 album, "Eclipse".
