Yosuke Yamashita & Hozan Yamamoto in Concert

Two giants of Japanese music come together in Munich in 1985 for a wholly unique recital. Pianist and composer Yosuke Yamashita is probably the single most influential voice in Japanese free jazz, while the late Hozan Yamamoto was a master in an ancient tradition; the shakuhachi virtuoso who startled Japanese audiences by taking his ancient instrument into bold and beautiful new worlds of jazz, crossover and the international avant-garde. Their Munich recital ranges from Thelonious Monk to their own joint improvisations, and it's all that you'd expect and more; startlingly original, deeply reflective, and driven by two irrepressible and inimitable musical imaginations.
