The founder and director of Gothic Voices, Christopher Page has written innumerable articles on medieval music, instruments and performance practice, and four books: Voices and Instruments of the Middle Ages (1987), The Owl and the Nightingale: Musical Life and Ideas in France 1100-1300 (1989), The Summa Musice: A Thirteenth-Century Manual for Singers (1991), and Discarding Images: Reflections on Music and Culture in Medieval France (Oxford, 1994). In 1990 Dr Page was awarded the Dent Medal of the Royal Musical Association awarded for outstanding services to musicology. Much in demand as a lecturer at home and abroad, from 1981 to 1985 he was Lecturer in Old and Middle English at New College, Oxford, and is now University Lecturer in Middle English Literature at the University of Cambridge where he is a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College. Dr Page is also the Chairman of the National Early Music Association, and also Chairman of The Plainsong and Medieval Music Society as well as co-editor of the journal Plainsong and Medieval Music, published by Cambridge University Press.

Page's key recordings and projects include 'The Earliest Songbook in England (c. 1200): Cambridge University Library MS Ff.I.17(1)', 'Masters of the Rolls: Music by English Composers of the 14th Century', 'Jerusalem, Vision of Peace: Songs & Plainchant from the Time of the Crusades', and 'The Spirits of England & France series (Volumes 2-5)', which focuses on 15th-century English and French music, including works by composers like Binchois and explorations of major chant traditions. His groundbreaking recording 'A Feather on the Breath of God: Songs of Hildegard von Bingen' brought public attention to Hildegard’s music and featured soprano Emma Kirkby, who rose to fame through her performances with Gothic Voices.
