The limited-edition five-CD box set "Edition Lockenhaus" was released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Austrian chamber music festival. This edition brings back out-of-print recordings, performed by internationally acclaimed artists such as Gidon Kremer, Kim Kashkashian, Heinz Holliger, Thomas Zehetmair, Thomas Demenga, Robert Levin, Eduard Brunner, and other members of the Neue Serie. In an interview, Gidon Kremer emphasizes the inspiring and unifying atmosphere of Lockenhaus. The set opens with previously unreleased recordings from 2001 and 2008, in which Sir Simon Rattle and Roman Kofman conduct the Kremerata Baltica in compelling performances of Richard Strauss's "Metamorphosen" and Olivier Messiaen's "Trois petites Liturgies de la Présence Divine"—performances that perfectly capture the unique atmosphere of Lockenhaus. The other CDs contain works by composers such as César Franck, André Caplet, Francis Poulenc, Leoš Janáček, Igor Stravinsky, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Erwin Schulhoff. The box set also includes original liner notes, an interview with Kremer, and new texts.
