With her first ECM album, the talented Hungarian guitarist Zsófia Boros presents a diverse repertoire encompassing American compositions for guitar. She describes her approach to music as intuitive and sometimes wonders whether she chooses the music or is chosen as the medium. When a piece touches her, she wants to reflect and share it. At the heart of "En otra parte" are works by Leo Brouwer, a Cuban composer who described the guitar as boundless—a formative figure for Boros since the beginning of her musical journey. Her sensitive solo program includes, among others, Ralph Towner's "Green and Golden," Vicente Amigo's flamenco homage "Callejón de la luna," a waltz by Dilermando Reis, and Quique Sinesi's "Cielo Abierto," inspired by candombe and milonga rhythms. The album, named after a poem by Roberto Juarroz (“Todo comienza en otra parte” – “Everything begins in another place”), was recorded in Lugano in 2012 under the production of Manfred Eicher.
