Valentin Silvestrov
In her latest album, Hélène Grimaud presents several premieres: her first live recording for Deutsche Grammophon and her very first recording of a Mozart piano concerto. The release includes Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor (K. 466) with the Camerata Salzburg. The program is complemented by Mozart's Fantasias K. 397 and K. 475, as well as works by the Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov, including 'The Messenger' and 'Two Dialogues with Postscript'. Grimaud has also recorded a solo version of Silvestrov's 'The Messenger'. Released in 2020, the album establishes a fascinating dialogue between Mozart and Silvestrov, whose works are both rooted in melancholy and hope, sadness and exuberance.
