Carl Nielsen
Carl Nielsen, a native of northern Denmark, was born on June 9, 1865, on the island of Funen and died on October 3, 1931, in Copenhagen. He composed works full of warmth and intensity that resonate deeply. Under the direction of Fabio Luisi, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra presents the Fourth Symphony by this important Danish composer. Nielsen, considered his country's most prominent composer, saw this symphony as an embodiment of an indomitable will to live. "Music is life in its most enduring form"—this is the poignant motto of this impressive symphony.
