Daniel Heide Schubert's
With their second joint recording for Deutsche Grammophon, André Schuen and Daniel Heide turn their attention to Schubert's enigmatic final song cycle, Schwanengesang (Swan Song). Schuen is particularly fascinated by the settings of Heinrich Heine's poems, which deeply move him and which he considers the pinnacle of all Schubert's songs. His enthusiasm for this song cycle dates back to before he embarked on a professional singing career; at that time, he became acquainted with the work through a recording with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, which he listened to repeatedly and which made a lasting impression on him.
