Kurt Masur
In the summer of 1997, conductor Kurt Masur, together with actress Marthe Keller, presented a unique interpretation of César Franck's rarely performed work, 'Psyché'. This symphonic poem for choir and orchestra gained a completely new perspective through Masur's artistic direction and Keller's compelling narration. The story of Psyche and Eros, rich in erotic elements, alchemical motifs, and scandalous twists, served as Franck's inspiration for this impressive composition. Keller's expressive recitation of the texts, taken directly from Apuleius's Metamorphoses, lent the performance an additional powerful dimension.
