Symphony No. 9 In C Major, D. 944 - "The Great"

Claudio Abbado In 2004, Claudio Abbado founded the Orchestra Mozart in Bologna as his final musical project. For ten years, the maestro shaped this ensemble, which brought together both promising young talents and established soloists.

The orchestra, one of Italy's leading ensembles, performed in Europe's most prestigious concert halls, including the Vienna Musikverein, where it was a regular resident. After Abbado's death in 2014, the Orchestra Mozart ceased its activities, though his legacy continues to resonate. The musicians, among the finest classical performers in Europe, were filled with enthusiasm and creative energy, united by their shared goal of making music together. The orchestra collaborated with various theaters and musical institutions in Europe and Asia and was a regular guest at the Salzburg Festival. Recordings of the orchestra under Abbado's direction can be heard on several Deutsche Grammophon CDs, primarily featuring works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
