Deutsche Grammophon, together with Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, continues its acclaimed Shostakovich cycle. The series began in 2015 with the recording of Symphony No. 10, followed in 2016 by Symphonies Nos. 5, 8, and 9. More recently, Symphonies Nos. 4 and 11 were added. Now, Nelsons and the BSO complete the project with Symphonies Nos. 6 and 7. In addition to these major works, the orchestra will also perform two other Shostakovich compositions: the Suite from the incidental music to "King Lear," Op. 58a, and the Festive Overture, Op. 96.
