Elsa Dreisig
An extraordinary selection of classical music works on the universal theme of war and peace was performed at the Versailles Peace Concert. To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of the renowned Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Möst, gathered at the Versailles Theatre. Together with world-famous soloists, including the exceptional pianist Yuja Wang and the young soprano Elsa Dreisig, they commemorated this momentous occasion. The meticulously curated program encompassed works by various composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, Ravel, Debussy, Gustav Holst, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Guided by the themes of 'Prologue, Destruction, Hope, Contemplation,' the concert offered a musical journey that culminated in Charles Ives's meditatively flowing masterpiece, a work that left the audience reflective and musically pointed far into the future.
