Clarice Jensen "Pendant World," the second and eagerly awaited Deutsche Grammophon album by Texas-based group Balmorhea, will be released digitally, on CD, and on vinyl on June 16.
The 13 tracks dissolve rigid genre boundaries, revealing a wide spectrum of styles, structures, rhythms, and timbres. Balmorhea's familiar "voices" of piano, acoustic guitars, and strings are now joined by found sounds, samples, vinyl recordings, synthesizers, brass, and flutes. Band founders Rob Lowe and Michael A. Muller are joined on "Pendant World" by longtime collaborators: violinist/vocalist Aisha Burns and cellist Clarice Jensen, as well as an equally impressive array of guest artists—experimental jazz saxophonist Sam Gendel, Joseph Shabason on tenor saxophone and flute, clarinetist Jonathan Sielaff, percussionist Jason Treuting, and vocalists Steph Jenkins and Lisa Morgenstern. Multiple Grammy Award winner Jonathan Lowe, who also contributed synthesizer and percussion, produced the album.
