AboutTongyeong International Music Festival

Since its foundation in 2002, the Tongyeong International Music Festival (TIMF) has established itself as one of the most respected and influential music festivals in Asia. The festival is dedicated to the distinguished Korean composer Isang Yun, who was born in Tongyeong but spent the latter part of his life in Berlin, Germany.
Called “the Salzburg Festival of Asia” by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Newspaper, the festival continues to expand its global reach and artistic vision under the artistic direction of the world-renowned composer Unsuk Chin.
Every spring, acclaimed artists from the international classical music scene and emerging Korean musicians convene in Tongyeong to present a program spanning repertoire from the baroque period to contemporary music, showcasing a wide range of artistic perspectives and interpretations.
