A new chapter begins at the Rencontres Musicales d’Évian with the opening of La Source Vive, a new concert hall created specifically for chamber music. Brahms is the composer chosen to inaugurate the new venue, with violinist María Dueñas and pianist Denis Kozhukhin opening the evening with the Third Violin Sonata, one of his final chamber works. The second half brings together Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax, Renaud Capuçon and Timothy Ridout for the Piano Quartet No. 3, a work that occupied Brahms, on and off, for more than twenty years. With a line-up of this calibre, the concert promises chamber music-making of the highest order.
