Nobuyuki Tsujii in Recital: Grieg, Chopin, Debussy & Tchaikovsky

Verbier Festival

A regular and warmly welcomed guest at the Verbier Festival, Nobuyuki Tsujii returns for a recital that takes us from early Romanticism through to nascent modernism. His programme begins with selections from Grieg’s Lyric Pieces and continues with two contrasting sides of Chopin’s musical personality: the intimacy of the Nocturnes, Op. 27 and the showmanship of the Andante spianato et Grande polonaise brillante. After the interval come the dreamlike sound worlds of Debussy’s Rêverie and Images, before the recital concludes with Mikhail Pletnev’s dazzling piano transcriptions from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. From introspection to barnstorming virtuosity, this is a programme that showcases every facet of this remarkable pianist’s art.
