Aziza Mustafa Zadeh: Piano Solo

Recorded at the Philharmonie im Gasteig in Munich in 1994, this solo set finds Aziza Mustafa Zadeh in her element — at the piano, singing, improvising and shaping the evening on her own terms. Moving easily between jazz, classical influences and the sounds of her Azerbaijani roots, she brings together her own compositions with songs by Bonfá, Billie Holiday and Paul Desmond. One moment intimate and reflective, the next full of rhythmic spark, the performance unfolds with a strong sense of freedom and a clear musical identity that runs through the entire programme.
