South African lyric soprano Pumeza Matshikiza gives a mesmerising recital in Berlin as part of Deutsche Grammophon's Musical Moments series. With James Baillieu at the piano, she presents a rich and varied programme of songs and arias, the warmth and glorious tone of her voice shining through as she recounts international tales of love, jealous lovers and the enjoyment of life. Including works by Hahn, Obradors and Fauré, one of her favourite composers, the programme offers an intimate and personal selection music sung in a number of languages, including Venetian dialects, French, Spanish, Czech, Swahili and Xhosa.
