Gustav Mahler's enigmatic Seventh Symphony was long overshadowed by his other contributions to the genre, while Alban Berg's Altenberg Lieder even caused a scandal at their premiere. Claudio Abbado brings together both works for this concert from the 2005 Lucerne Festival. He and his Lucerne Festival Orchestra are joined by superstar soprano Renée Fleming, who performs not only the Alternberg-Lieder, but also three of Schubert's most famous songs, in orchestral arrangements by Britten and Reger.
