"Hey, you kids!" shouts saxophonist John Lurie to a packed and lively crowd at Munich's Alabamahalle, setting a playful mood for this fizzing session from The Lounge Lizards – the irreverent, irrepressibly inventive jazz quintet that he led with his brother, pianist Evan Lurie, between 1978 and 1998. The line-up on that night in 1982 included Peter Zummo (trombone), Tony Garnier (bass) and Dougie Bowne on drums; the set-list (unsurprisingly) includes Lurie's own tongue-in-cheek compositions as well as standards by Eric Dolphy and Duke Ellington. Classic No Wave grooves, captured in a film that puts you right there in the room.
