Katia & Marielle Labèque and Fabien Gabel in Poulenc and Strauss

The Grafenegg Festival opens with a striking programme pairing Poulenc’s vibrant Concerto for Two Pianos with Strauss’s monumental Alpensinfonie. Conducted by Fabien Gabel, the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich is joined by the renowned piano duo Katia & Marielle Labèque. The concert also features the European premiere of Ravel’s rediscovered Prélude et Danse from Sémiramis, unveiled in New York in March 2025 to mark the composer’s 150th anniversary. Strauss’s Alpine Symphony, a grand depiction of mountain climbing and man’s bond with nature, promises a powerful and emotional close on the open-air Wolkenturm stage.
