Virtuoso piano duo Anthony & Joseph Paratore present a concert from the 1986 Munich Klaviersommer that opens in arresting fashion with Alban Berg's formidably difficult arrangement of Arnold Schoenberg's Chamber Symphony No. 1 – a key work of the early 20th century. The brothers continue their musical exploration of musical modernism with Wolfgang Rihm's Maske from 1985, dedicated to them; Stravinsky's neo-classical Concerto for Two Piano of 1935; and the two piano arrangement of Debussy's seminal Prélude à l'Après-midi d'un faune (1894). And to conclude: fireworks with Lutosławski's bold, brilliant Variations on a Theme by Paganini.
