Paul Lincke: A Celebrated German Composer
Paul Lincke (1866–1946) was a renowned German composer and conductor, often referred to as the "father of the Berlin operetta". He is best known for his lively and melodic works such as the march "Berliner Luft," which was originally composed for Lincke’s 1904 two-act burlesque Berliner Luft and later added to the 1922 revision of Frau Luna. This piece has since become an unofficial anthem of Berlin. His music was especially prominent in early 20th-century German theater and popular culture and continues to be featured in concerts and historic recordings.
