Mari Samuelsen
Norwegian violinist Mari Samuelsen will release a new version of her third studio album, LIFE, on Deutsche Grammophon on August 30, 2024. Inspired by her own experience as a mother, the work celebrates both the unadulterated joy of a child's perspective and the capacity of adults for empathy and transformation. The multifaceted emotional aspects of parenthood—from curiosity and frustration to profound affection—find expression in a diverse program. Samuelsen presents works by contemporary composers such as Hania Rani, Max Richter, Nils Frahm, and Ludovico Einaudi. The expanded edition includes additional pieces by Bryce Dessner and other renowned composers. With her breathtaking artistry and innovative approach to program design, Samuelsen, who studied with Professor Zakhar Bron in Zurich, captivates audiences worldwide. Her emotionally charged playing style, underpinned by impeccable technique and intellectual depth, lends a special expressiveness to her broad repertoire.
