Album insights
The press celebrates the world-renowned pianist Grigory Sokolov as "The Best Classical World Has to Offer" (Der Spiegel) and "Many simply see him as the greatest living pianist" (The Independent). His latest live recording for Deutsche Grammophon took place in the historic Haydnsaal of Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt, where Joseph Haydn lived and worked for about three decades. In this spectacular setting, the legendary pianist recorded three Haydn sonatas, Schubert's Impromptus D 935, and an extensive selection of encores in a sensational concert from September 2018. This remarkable performance is now available on a double album, accompanied by a bonus Blu-Ray disc providing a perfect home viewing experience of the entire concert.
