Maxim Vengerov
In 2022, Rodion Shchedrin celebrated two significant anniversaries: his 90th birthday and a quarter-century as Composer-in-Residence at the Verbier Festival. This extraordinary collection of musical works testifies to an inspiring and fruitful collaboration. Shchedrin first visited Verbier in 1997, when his new violin concerto was premiered by Maxim Vengerov and Antonio Pappano. Since then, the composer has felt welcomed by the festival's renowned soloists like a valued member of the family and recognized as a creative partner. They received him with great appreciation and were captivated by his compositions. Many of Shchedrin's new works, featured on this album, were composed in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
