With the album "Portraits of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, Vol. 1," released on the joint Verbier Festival Gold label, a series begins that highlights the extraordinary connection between the ensemble and its esteemed musical director, the Hungarian chamber music legend Gábor Takács-Nagy. The debut album presents captivating interpretations of both Haydn's last, the 104th Symphony, and Schumann's third, the so-called "Rhenish" Symphony. The recording also includes a stunning version of Beethoven's Second Piano Concerto, featuring Martha Argerich—a long-time partner of the VFCO and a close friend of the festival—at the piano. The album is rounded off with an encore by Scarlatti, performed by the outstanding pianist.
