Anton Bruckner.
Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra produced numerous recordings of Anton Bruckner's works together. The interpretations of all nine symphonies, recorded between 1975 and 1981, are now considered legendary. The analog recordings of Symphonies 4 through 9, in particular, were released as limited and numbered editions and received the prestigious "White Glove" treatment as part of the Original Source Series. Rainer Maillard and Sidney C. Mayer of the Emil Berliner Studios set new standards in the remastering process by mastering directly from the original 8-track tapes for the first time, using a specially designed playback device. Simultaneously, the same team remastered the digital recordings of Symphonies 1 through 3 from 1980 and 1981, employing advanced digital-to-analog conversion technologies to further enhance the sound.
